Plug your ESP8266 board into any USB power source:
| 🔋 Power Source | 📝 Notes |
|---|---|
| 💻 Computer USB port | Works great, also lets you view serial output |
| 🔋 USB power bank | Best for portable use |
| 🔌 USB wall adapter | Make sure it supplies at least 500mA |
| 🔋 DSTIKE battery | Built-in 18650 connector on DSTIKE boards |
⏳ Wait 10–20 seconds after powering on before connecting. The ESP8266 needs time to boot and start broadcasting its WiFi network.
On your phone, tablet, or laptop — open WiFi settings and look for the EthiFi network:
| 🔑 Setting | 📝 Value |
|---|---|
| 📶 Network Name (SSID) | EthiFi |
| 🔐 Password | deauther |
Connect to it just like any regular WiFi network.
📵 Important — disable mobile data on your phone after connecting. iOS and Android may silently switch to mobile data when they detect the WiFi has no internet, causing the Web UI to fail to load.
💡 These defaults can be changed later in the Web UI settings.
Once connected to the EthiFi WiFi, open your browser and navigate to:
http://192.168.4.1
⚠️ Usehttp://— nothttps://. The board does not support HTTPS and the connection will fail if you use it.
The EthiFi Web UI will load in your browser — no app installation required. 🎉
The Web UI is organised into several sections accessible from the navigation menu:
| 🗂️ Section | 📝 What it does |
|---|---|
| 📡 Scan | Discover nearby WiFi networks and their connected clients |
| 🎯 APs | List of scanned access points — select targets here |
| 👥 Stations | List of scanned client devices |
| ⚔️ Attacks | Run deauth, beacon spam, or probe attacks |
| 📊 Monitor | View probe requests from nearby devices in real time |
| ⚙️ Settings | Change SSID, password, channel, and more |
1. Click Scan in the navigation menu
2. Click Scan APs to search for nearby access points
3. Wait for the scan to complete — this usually takes a few seconds
4. A list of nearby WiFi networks will appear with details:
| 📊 Column | 📝 Meaning |
|---|---|
| 📶 SSID | Network name |
| 📡 BSSID | MAC address of the access point |
| 🔒 Encryption | WPA2, WPA, Open, etc. |
| 📊 RSSI | Signal strength (higher = stronger) |
| 📻 Channel | WiFi channel the AP is broadcasting on |
5. Optionally click Scan Stations to also find devices connected to those networks
⚠️ Only scan and interact with networks you own or have permission to test.
1. Go to the APs tab
2. Find your target network in the list and click Select next to it
3. Go to the Attacks tab
4. Choose your attack type:
| ⚔️ Attack | 📝 Description |
|---|---|
| 📡 Deauth | Sends deauth frames to disconnect clients from the selected AP |
| 🎭 Beacon Spam | Broadcasts many fake SSIDs to flood the area |
| 🕵️ Probe | Sends probe requests to confuse scanning tools |
5. Click Start to begin, Stop to end
🔴 Reminder — only use attacks on networks you own or have explicit written permission to test. Using these features on unauthorized networks is illegal.
Go to Settings in the Web UI to customize EthiFi:
| ⚙️ Setting | 📝 Description |
|---|---|
| 📶 SSID | Change the name of the EthiFi WiFi network |
| 🔐 Password | Change the WiFi password |
| 🌐 Channel | Set the WiFi broadcast channel |
| 🔒 Hidden SSID | Hide the EthiFi network from WiFi scans |
| 💡 LED | Toggle the onboard LED |
| 🔄 Reboot | Restart the board remotely |
| 🧹 Reset | Restore all settings to factory defaults |
💾 Click Save after making changes. The board may reboot to apply them — reconnect to the EthiFi WiFi afterwards.
| ❌ Problem | 🔗 Fix |
|---|---|
No EthiFi WiFi network appears |
Wait 20 sec, power cycle the board, re-check flash was successful |
Web UI won't load at 192.168.4.1
|
Disable mobile data, use http:// not https://, try different browser |
| Scan shows no networks | Move closer to access points, rescan |
| Attack has no effect | Ensure correct AP is selected, try a different channel setting |
| Board disconnects or reboots randomly | Check USB power supply — try a more powerful adapter |
