Overview

Proposes a definition-driven Proton-HEVC provider using the existing GitHub
release source and standard archive installer. No new adapter or provider-specific
installation branch is added.

Release: https://github.com/changeforan/zzz-cloud-hevc/releases/tag/Proton-HEVC-11.0-2-r1

This experimental, video-focused Proton 11.0-2 derivative adds D3D11 HEVC Main
decoding through WineD3D/Vulkan Video. It defaults to wined3d rather than DXVK.
Zenless Zone Zero Cloud and Genshin Impact Cloud have been user-confirmed working
on an AMD 780M/RADV SteamOS setup. This is not a general-performance replacement
for GE/Valve Proton, and no broad GPU compatibility claim is intended.

Provider/asset contract

  • Stable provider ID: proton-hevc; one x86_64 baseline variant.
  • Exact asset template: $tag_name.tar.gz (e.g. Proton-HEVC-11.0-2-r1.tar.gz).
  • Matching top-level directory and Steam tool ID; Windows → Linux manifest.
  • Single-archive fallback remains disabled: releases carry several source
archives, which must never be chosen as the installable binary.
  • Release is marked experimental in its title/docs but is not a GitHub prerelease,
consistent with the existing parser excluding prerelease entries.
  • Source snapshot, dependency supplements, third-party notices, hashes and build
provenance accompany the release; limitations are documented in SOURCE-INFO.md.

Changes

  • Provider definition, README provider list, registry/definition/layout snapshots.
  • Regression tests for exact binary selection, source-only/unsupported asset
rejection, architecture metadata and versioned installation directory.
  • One new untranslated Cloud-client description in the POT and all PO catalogs;
existing translations and timestamps are unchanged.

Issue Number

No matching HEVC provider issue or PR was found in the existing open/closed
items when checked. This PR proposes catalog inclusion for maintainer review.

New Variables or Dependencies

None for ProtonPlus. Reuses its existing GitHub release adapter and archive
installer; the downloaded compatibility tool supplies its own runtime defaults.

How to Test

Build with the documented Meson workflow, run the provider/registry/layout/source
tests, then install the version above via this provider in a disposable Steam
profile. Confirm source archives are not selected and Steam recognizes the tool.

Validation performed

  • git diff --check: passed.
  • python tests/scripts_test.py: 5 tests passed.
  • Both changed JSON fixtures parse successfully.
  • xgettext extracts the new description; msgfmt syntax compilation passes for all
changed catalogs. Strict format checking finds six existing Spanish errors,
    reproduced from unmodified HEAD.
  • Native Meson/Vala build and the added Vala tests have not been executed
successfully locally: Vala is absent, and the scoped dependency installation
failed on mirror HTTP 404s without upgrading packages. No successful native
    test run is claimed.
  • Independent read-only review found no blocking provider/asset-selection defects.
  • User runtime confirmation applies to the Proton binaries, not a live installation
    through this new ProtonPlus provider.

I understand provider inclusion is maintainer-reviewed and that the README notes
limited maintainer availability until early October. Happy to adjust the naming
or scope if this provider is suitable for the catalog.

Screenshots

Not supplied: this adds a catalog entry, not a new UI flow.

Checklist

  • Followed the existing definition-driven provider patterns.
  • Full native build and provider tests passed locally (blocked as explained above).
  • Updated provider documentation and fixtures.
  • Full translation helper completed (its native-build prerequisite was blocked; the exact xgettext message was added and msgfmt-checked).
  • Checked for existing overlapping pull requests.

I should be back by the end of September.
Since I cannot personally test your PR right now it will have to wait a little bit.
Thank you for contributing and properly filling out the PR!

…rmats

Add AI-assisted translations for the new provider entry in all 25 catalogs. Restore missing string and count placeholders in six existing Spanish messages, including both plural forms. All catalogs pass msgfmt --check; nonfatal pre-existing header warnings remain. Native-speaker review is still welcome.

Yeah sorry, I've just been very lazy recently lol.
I'll take a look right now.

I only see one release with no recent modifications.
I am not sure I want to add this version at the moment.

I've decide to add it, but hide it behind a toggle in the Preferences.
That way I can still add less known tool without them being there by default.

Thank you, is this toggle a new feature? So I can test myself after adding this.
