flybudget

A Flask web UI for searching flights between airports and finding the cheapest dates, plus a set of per-route scripts for sweeping specific city pairs.

Built to answer "when is the cheapest time to fly this route" rather than "what does this route cost today".

eu_search/ is a sweep of European origins against US east coast airports. Each file is the same search pinned to one pair, so they can be run individually or in a batch without touching the UI.

Running

pip install flask
python app.py

Then open the address Flask prints. The app also answers JSON on the same routes, with permissive CORS set in add_cors_headers, so the static build in docs/ can call it.

To regenerate the static page:

python _build_static.py

Configuration

Copy .env.example and fill it in before running. There is a Dockerfile if you would rather not install Flask locally.

Note on results files

Earlier commits tracked the output of actual searches — budget_results.json, albania_trip_results.json, splitday_results.json and the matching log files. Those are run output rather than source, and they are no longer tracked. If you want a record of a particular search, keep it somewhere outside the repo.
