What

T-0897: the "Find me a tutor" page (/find-a-tutor), option A of the T-0864 designs (pull request #90): one screen, the questions on the left, the three tutors who fit best on the right (under the form on a phone, with the button kept in reach).

  • Uses the directory's own public cards, filters and "Recommended" order (from Directory filters: student level, time zone, near me, dark theme (T-0863) #89 and Language pages: /learn/<language> for the top languages (T-0875, stacked on #89) #92, both merged), so it cannot show a tutor the directory would not. Only tutors with open times in the next 14 days, no private field.
  • "Why this tutor" lists up to three reasons, each printed only when it is true of that tutor.
  • Fewer than three fit: it says what to drop. None fit: an explained state with "Start again" and "See all tutors". Under six listed tutors: closed like the directory. A failed read: an alert and noindex.
  • Works without scripts (plain GET form); with scripts the tutors follow every answer and the address is kept for sharing. Real radio buttons in fieldsets, a switch for the trial lesson. Light and dark.
  • SEO and AEO: title, description, canonical, sitemap, /llms.txt, a short answer at the top, a four-question FAQ with matching FAQPage data, links from the directory and the footer.
  • Updates entry 1.18.0 with its picture.

Based on master (the filters are already in it); nothing stacked. Nothing about the Verified badge.

Checked

  • tests/find-tutor.test.ts (new, 14 tests): the pick, the reasons, the real page over made-up tutors (all states, nothing private in the HTML, form markup, address read like the directory's, SEO data, FAQ) and dark contrast. npm test: 1566 tests, 1564 pass, 0 fail, 2 skipped. Typecheck, line-refs, production build and lint of the new files: pass.
  • Lighthouse on a production build with made-up data: accessibility, best practices, SEO 100, 0 failed audits, desktop and phone (dark). No horizontal scroll at 390 px; no console errors.
  • Screenshots (1440 and 390, light and dark, no-match state) are in the owner's waiting item.

Limits

  • The sample's "What for" question is left out: a tutor does not say what they teach it for, so no tutor could be matched to it honestly. It needs a tutor-side field (separate ticket).
  • A tutor who has not chosen levels is not matched when a level is asked for (the directory's rule); "Any" level gives the most results until more tutors choose.
  • Measured with made-up tutors on this machine, not on the real site.
