Refresh FW Lite project role on sync - #2771
Conversation
The local role was only updated from the home page's server project list, so a role change on Lexbox didn't reach an open project. - After each successful sync, look up the role in the (cached) server project list and publish a ProjectRoleChangedEvent when it changes; the home-page refresh publishes it too. - MiniLcmJsInvokable.CanWrite reads the role from CrdtMiniLcmApi instead of the CrdtProject snapshot taken when the project was opened. - The viewer subscribes before opening the project (opening triggers a sync), updates projectData.role and refetches features when the event arrives. WalkthroughBackend services now map project roles, report role changes, and publish project-scoped role-change events. After sync, the service refreshes the local role from the server. The viewer subscribes to these events, overlays the latest role on project data, and refetches features. Write access now uses the live CRDT API’s readonly state. Tests cover role updates, viewer updates, and subscription cleanup. - Line 112: Wrap the RefreshUserRole call in its own try/catch so role lookup
failures do not change the completed sync result or prevent restart and
notification handling. Catch the exception, log it with logger.LogWarning using
the project name, and allow the surrounding sync flow to continue successfully.

from #latestRole when overlaying the role, treating only UserProjectRole.Editor
and UserProjectRole.Manager as writable; import UserProjectRole as a runtime
value rather than type-only. Preserve the existing project data when no latest
role is available.

The project list is cached for 5 minutes and refreshed when the project opens, so a sync started from the sync dialog kept using the role from before the change. A sync the user asks for now refetches the list; background syncs still use the cache. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
The role refresh runs after the sync has completed, so an exception there would turn a successful sync into a failure and skip the listener restart and notifications. It's now best-effort and logged. Also stop sending ProjectData.IsReadonly to the viewer. Nothing there reads it, and after a role change it contradicted the role overlaid from the ProjectRoleChangedEvent. The viewer gets permissions from the project's features, which are refetched when the role changes. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
A role change applied during sync updated the cache but left the project object's snapshot stale. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5.1 <noreply@anthropic.com>
when fw lite always opened on the home page that would trigger a role refresh by loading projects from lexbox. That doesn't happen anymore. We need to refresh on sync, fetching projects from lexbox is cached for 5 minutes, so it shouldn't be too bad on extra network requests.
AI summary
FW Lite only updated a project's stored role when the home page loaded the server project list, so a role change on Lexbox didn't reach a project that was already open. This refreshes the role on every successful sync and pushes it to the open project.
Backend
SyncServicelooks up the user's role in the server project list after a successful sync. Background syncs use the list cached for 5 minutes, so most make no extra request. A sync started from the sync dialog bypasses the cache, so a role change shows up immediately. If the project isn't in the list (failed fetch, or access removed), the role is left as it is, so a failed fetch can't lock anyone out.ProjectRoleChangedEvent. The home-page refresh publishes it too.MiniLcmJsInvokable.CanWritereads the role fromCrdtMiniLcmApi.ProjectDatainstead ofCrdtProject.Data, which is a snapshot taken when the project was opened and never updated afterwards.UpdateUserRole/UpdateProjectServerInfonow return whether the role changed. Opening a project triggers a sync, which can change the role before the viewer's project context is set up.

Note: this adds requests to
