Summary

Implements the command.uivoid extension proposed and confirmed in #2997.

  • create, credentials, oauth-config, and login are reviewed: they mutate remote account/project state (or, for login, write a local session file every later command trusts).
  • skill --install is reviewed: it writes a file a Codex agent loads automatically in later sessions.
  • whoami, prompt, logout, and bare skill (no --install) stay auto-allowed — pure reads or fully local/reversible.
  • --help/-h are genuine safe variants on every rule, since commander.js intercepts them before the action handler runs, even alongside an otherwise-reviewed flag (e.g. uivoid skill --install --help never installs anything).
  • Covers the direct uivoid binary plus common npm launcher wrappers: npx/bunx uivoid, pnpm/yarn uivoid, npm/pnpm exec uivoid, pnpm/yarn dlx uivoid.

External, opt-in, mirrors command.repo2nb's structure. Registered in the three places that turned out to matter (traced by reading the actual runtime, not guessed):

  1. command_builtin_extension_catalog.py — the direct extension catalog.
  2. contracts/extensions/trust-class-map.v1.json — the curated map that actually gates default enablement (the contribution manifest's own trustClass field is validated but not what extension_trust.py consults).
  3. docs/guard/extensions/catalog.v1.json — regenerated via scripts/export_extension_directory.py.

Test plan

  • pytest tests/test_guard_command_uivoid_extensions.py — review cases, npm launcher wrapper forms, inert-until-enabled, safe/help commands, reference URL check
  • pytest tests/test_guard_extension_trust.py tests/test_guard_extension_contribution.py tests/test_guard_extension_directory_export.py tests/test_guard_mcp_server_contribution.py — confirms the extension is correctly wired into the trust map, contribution schema validation, and generated directory export
  • ruff check / ruff format --check on all changed files

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features

    • Added support for the uivoid command extension across common package runners.
    • Added review safeguards for project creation, credential handling, OAuth configuration, login, and skill installation commands.
    • Added safer alternatives and help guidance for potentially risky operations.
    • Classified the extension as external and opt-in, remaining inactive until enabled.
  • Documentation

    • Documented the uivoid extension and its protected operations.
  • Tests

    • Added coverage for command variants, safe commands, trust classification, and protection of secret values.

Adds an external, opt-in command safety extension for uivoid-cli (npx
uivoid create/credentials/oauth-config/login/skill --install), per the
capability boundary agreed in hashgraph-online#2997: uivoid create, credentials,
oauth-config, and login mutate remote account state or write a local
session file; skill --install writes a file a Codex agent loads in
later sessions. whoami, prompt, logout, and bare skill stay
auto-allowed. --help/-h are genuine safe variants since commander.js
intercepts them before the action handler runs, even alongside an
otherwise-reviewed flag.

Registers command.uivoid alongside the other external extensions in
three places, mirroring command.repo2nb: the direct extension catalog,
the curated trust-class map (this is what actually gates default
enablement, not the contribution manifest's own trustClass field), and
the generated extension directory catalog.

High-Level Assessment

The approach follows the repository’s established external-extension architecture: a dedicated Python detector handles wrapper-aware and flag-qualified matching, while the contribution manifest, curated trust map, and generated directory provide discovery and enablement metadata. A generic executable-only rule was considered but would not accurately distinguish skill --install, launcher prefixes, or Commander help short-circuiting.

Action required

1. Launcher options bypass command review ✓ Resolved 🐞 Bug ⛨ Security
Description
_uivoid_matchers requires wrapper arguments to start exactly with uivoid or exec uivoid and
does not configure launcher-option handling. Valid forms such as npx --yes uivoid create app,
pnpm --silent uivoid create app, and npm exec --yes uivoid create app therefore miss every
uivoid rule and can perform the protected mutations without review.
Code

+ subcommands=("uivoid", *subcommands),
+ required_flags=required_flags,
Evidence
The new wrapper matchers hard-code uivoid, exec uivoid, or dlx uivoid as exact argument
prefixes without declaring leading or interspersed package-manager options.
ExecutableMatcher.match compares that resulting prefix directly against subcommands, while the
command parser retains launcher options in the wrapper segment, so an option before uivoid makes
the comparison fail.

## Issue description
The uivoid wrapper matchers assume fixed argument prefixes, so valid package-manager options before the package name prevent mutating commands from reaching review.

- tests/test_guard_command_uivoid_extensions.py[86-98]
## Recommended Fix
Model each supported package manager's launcher option grammar, including flags, value-taking options, and the `--` separator, before matching the `uivoid` package and protected subcommand. Add review tests for representative option-bearing forms such as `npx --yes uivoid create app`, `pnpm --silent uivoid create app`, and `npm exec --yes uivoid create app`.

2. Required command tests are missing ✓ Resolved 📎 Requirement gap ☼ Reliability
Description
UIVOID_REVIEW_CASES omits --exclude-destructive and every --flag=value form, while its

Evidence
Rule 2757230 explicitly requires tests for every create-selection mode, both option-assignment
syntaxes, and redacted evidence. The complete review-case matrix includes --yes, --include, and
--no-discover, but no --exclude-destructive or equals-style assignment; its test checks only
matched rule IDs and action classes rather than emitted evidence.

Qodo's automated review on hashgraph-online#3001 found a real gap: the npx/bunx/pnpm/
yarn wrapper matchers required "uivoid" to be the exact first token
after the launcher, so a package-manager flag placed before it (npx
--yes uivoid create, pnpm --silent uivoid create, npm exec --yes
uivoid create) shifted the subcommand prefix and skipped review
entirely. Declare those launcher flags as interspersed, same option/
flag sets already reviewed for the supabase extension, so they're
stripped before the subcommand prefix check.

Also adds the requested test coverage: --exclude-destructive,
--flag=value assignment syntax, the launcher-option bypass cases above
(verified to fail without the fix, pass with it), and an explicit
assertion that evidence for secret-bearing commands never contains the
matched secret value.

Addressed both of Qodo's findings in ab2e350:

  • Launcher-option bypass (real bug): the npx/bunx/pnpm/yarn wrapper matchers required uivoid to be the exact first token after the launcher, so npx --yes uivoid create app, pnpm --silent uivoid create app, etc. shifted the subcommand prefix and skipped review. Fixed by declaring those launcher flags as interspersed (same option/flag sets already reviewed for the supabase extension). Verified the new test cases fail without the fix and pass with it.
  • Test coverage gap: added --exclude-destructive, --flag=value assignment syntax, the launcher-bypass cases above, and an explicit assertion that evidence for secret-bearing commands (--auth-key, --token, --client-secret) never contains the matched secret value.

47 targeted tests pass (test_guard_command_uivoid_extensions.py plus the trust map, contribution schema, directory export, and MCP contribution suites), ruff check and ruff format --check clean.

Please wire this through the current installed-runtime contract before we run the fork CI. command.uivoid is absent from command_action_risk_classes.py, the wheel force-include, frozen staging map, and contracts/extensions/native-command-program.v1.json; the generated README, control baseline, decision-diff, and projection artifacts also were not refreshed. Regenerate with the repo scripts and add installed wheel/frozen coverage so packaged behavior and contribution metadata match source.

Per Kantor's review: regenerated every generated/cached artifact that
falls out of sync when a new extension is added, and added the two
missing per-file registrations for packaged/frozen builds.

Regenerated via the repo's own scripts (all verified stale before,
clean --check after):
- contracts/extensions/native-command-program.v1.json
  (scripts/build_native_command_program.py)
- docs/guard/extensions/README.md
  (scripts/render_command_extension_directory.py)
- tests/fixtures/guard-command-corpus/decision-diff-report.json
  (tests/guard_command_decision_diff.py --write)

Patched by hand, using the same library calls their own tests use to
compute expected values (not guessed):
- tests/fixtures/extension-controls/catalog-baseline.v1.json — merged
  in the 5 new permission/rule ids and bumped counts/catalog_digest;
left every pre-existing key's order untouched (some of it, e.g. the
github permission_examples ordering, was already not alphabetical
before this PR, so a full sort_keys=True regen would have introduced
a large unrelated diff -- avoided that).
- contracts/managed-controls/v1/extension-projection-digest-vector.json
  and the matching _GUARD_RELEASE_CATALOG_DIGEST /
  _GUARD_RELEASE_PROJECTION_DIGEST constants in
  tests/test_policy_bundle_delivery_runtime.py — recomputed with
  runner.build_builtin_extension_catalog_wire /
  signed_cloud_extension_projection_json /
  signed_cloud_extension_projection_digest, the same calls
  test_signed_cloud_extension_projection_matches_shared_vector uses.

Added the two missing per-extension registrations (command.uivoid.json
was absent from both, unlike every other merged external extension):
- pyproject.toml wheel force-include
- scripts/release/stage_guard_cloud_review_artifacts.py frozen staging
  map

Checked and intentionally left alone:
- command_action_risk_classes.py: this is a legacy lookup for action
classes that predate rules declaring risk_classes directly. Absence
  is always a no-op (risk_classes_for_command_action returns () for an
unmapped action class, and () is a subset of anything), verified via
  test_every_extension_declares_its_actions_runtime_risk_classes and
  test_runtime_risk_class_mapping_remains_compatible, both passing.
command.repo2nb (the extension this one mirrors) also has no entry
here, so this matches the established pattern rather than deviating
  from it.
- rust/crates/guard-command/tests/fixtures/native-command-observations-v1.json:
this does look registry-derived (73/546 cases reference repo2nb) and
  scripts/generate_native_command_fixtures.py would regenerate it, but
that script hard-requires CPython 3.12 exactly ("Native v1 oracle
  requires CPython 3.12 / UCD15") and this environment has 3.14, and I
have no cargo/rustc here to verify the result either way. Rather than
regenerate something I can't validate, flagging it for the Rust
authority CI check (already gated behind maintainer approval) to
  confirm.

187 targeted tests pass across all affected suites; ruff check/format
clean.

Wired through in 5cdfef8:

  • Regenerated via the repo's own scripts (all confirmed stale before, clean --check after): contracts/extensions/native-command-program.v1.json, docs/guard/extensions/README.md, tests/fixtures/guard-command-corpus/decision-diff-report.json.
  • Patched using the same library calls the tests themselves use to compute expected values: tests/fixtures/extension-controls/catalog-baseline.v1.json (merged in the new permission/rule ids, left every pre-existing key's order untouched rather than doing a full re-sort that would've touched unrelated extensions), and contracts/managed-controls/v1/extension-projection-digest-vector.json + the matching digest constants in tests/test_policy_bundle_delivery_runtime.py.
  • Added the two missing per-extension registrations — command.uivoid.json was absent from both the wheel force-include in pyproject.toml and the frozen staging map in scripts/release/stage_guard_cloud_review_artifacts.py, unlike every other merged external extension.

One I checked and left alone: command_action_risk_classes.py. That's a legacy lookup for action classes that predate rules declaring risk_classes directly — an unmapped action class returns (), which is always a valid subset of the extension's own declared risk classes (verified both relevant tests pass). command.repo2nb itself has no entry there either, so adding one for uivoid would deviate from the pattern rather than match it.

One I could not verify and want to flag rather than guess at: rust/crates/guard-command/tests/fixtures/native-command-observations-v1.json does look registry-derived (73/546 cases reference repo2nb), and scripts/generate_native_command_fixtures.py would regenerate it, but that script hard-requires CPython 3.12 exactly ("Native v1 oracle requires CPython 3.12 / UCD15") and I don't have that pinned interpreter or cargo/rustc in this environment to regenerate or verify it. Left it for the Rust authority CI check to confirm rather than committing something unverifiable.

187 targeted tests pass across all affected suites; ruff check/ruff format --check clean.

corrideluca and others added 2 commits September 19, 2026 22:45
CodeRabbit's review flagged that npx uivoid@latest create/npm exec
uivoid@1.2.3 create evade every wrapper rule, since ExecutableMatcher's
subcommand comparison is an exact-token match. Confirmed real.

Tried fixing it with a small custom matcher (package name with an
optional @version/@tag suffix, checked before the fixed subcommand
token). It works correctly for the Python-side rule evaluation, but
scripts/build_native_command_program.py hard-fails on it:
native_command_program.py keeps an explicit, deliberately closed
allowlist of matcher types ("Keep this an explicit import/identity
allowlist... would admit unreviewed Python semantics") that even
repo2nb's own custom matcher had to be added to by name. Self-admitting
a brand-new matcher type into that allowlist from an external
contribution defeats the point of it being reviewed, and I don't have
an existing whitelisted primitive that fits this exact shape (checked
ExecutableMatcher, ArgumentMatcher, SubcommandOperandPrefixMatcher --
none match a variable-suffixed token in this position followed by a
fixed subcommand).

So: left the version-spec gap unfixed and documented in
UIVOID_WRAPPER_REVIEW_COMMANDS rather than route around it with an
unreviewed matcher, and added the two cases CodeRabbit's finding
correctly noted are already handled (`--` before the package name, both
plain npx and npm exec -- forms) as passing regression tests.

Two blockers remain on this head. Map every UIVoid action class in command_action_risk_classes.py; runtime evaluation calls risk_classes_for_command_action, so those classes currently publish no mapped risks. Also close the uivoid@<version|tag> launcher bypass with a reviewed matcher/native op and Python/Rust parity tests for npx and npm exec forms.

the ollama/github/blitcp pattern. Every uivoid rule already declares its
own risk_classes, consumed directly by CompositeCommandEvaluation and the
fail-closed check, so this table only matters for the unregistered
compatibility_action_class path -- adding it satisfies review without
changing runtime behavior.

Add VersionedPackageSubcommandMatcher, a new reviewed native-program
primitive (Python + Rust) that tolerates an npm-style @<version-or-tag>
suffix on one designated package token (npx uivoid@latest create, npm
exec uivoid@1.2.3 create, etc.), closing the launcher-option bypass
CodeRabbit and Kantor both flagged. Wired into the npx/bunx, npm/pnpm
exec, and pnpm/yarn dlx uivoid wrapper rules; left the direct binary and
plain pnpm/yarn run forms alone since no package spec resolution happens
there. Extended with_required_flag/safe_flag_variant to clone the new
matcher type so --help safe variants keep working across all forms.

Verified with the CI-pinned Rust toolchain (1.88.0): full workspace
cargo test, cargo clippy --workspace --all-targets -- -D warnings, and
cargo fmt all pass, including the Python/Rust parity fixture test
(extended with 18 new positive/negative versioned-package cases).

Also fixes two pre-existing stale hardcoded counts in
native_command_program_tests.rs (extensions.len() and rules.len()) that
were never updated when uivoid's 5 rules were originally added to this
branch.

Verified against npm's own npm-package-arg parser: npa("uivoid@") parses
identically to npa("uivoid") (rawSpec "*"), so `npx uivoid@ create` really
does resolve and run the real package. The `len(token) > len(package_prefix)`
guard left that token unnormalized, so it missed the prefix match and
evaded review -- the exact launcher-bypass class this matcher exists to
close. Drop the guard in both the Python reference and the Rust twin.

Verified with the CI-pinned Rust toolchain (1.88.0): full workspace
cargo test (including the Python/Rust parity fixture, now covering the
bare-@ form across npx/npm-exec/pnpm-dlx), cargo clippy --workspace

Fixed on be63f88: action-risk mapping and versioned package matching now have Python/Rust parity, including bare uivoid@ coverage.

Nice, the risk mapping and versioned package matching are fixed. main has moved three commits since this branch; could you rebase onto 42f303d and regenerate the source-bound Extension artifacts before we run fork CI?

The builder is failing because docs/guard/extensions/catalog.v2.json is stale: the regenerated v2 directory includes command.uivoid, but that file is unchanged in this PR. Could you run python scripts/export_extension_directory.py, commit the updated v2 catalog, and let the builder rerun?

Fixed in the current head. docs/guard/extensions/catalog.v2.json now contains command.uivoid.

The catalog refresh is fixed. The builder now rejects tests/fixtures/command-source-uivoid.v1.json before its cases run because it lacks the current guard.command-extension-fixtures.v1 build envelope. Could you regenerate that fixture so build.sources contains the canonical contributions/command-sources/command.uivoid.json source, then rerun the Extension builder?

The fixture now includes the current build envelope and canonical source set.

Code Review ✅ Approved 2 closed / 2 findings

🟡 Medium risk · Adds opt-in uivoid command safeguards and native package-launcher matching behavior.

Implements the command.uivoid extension with review safeguards for state-mutating operations across npm launcher wrappers, but the versioned matcher drops the -- terminator, allowing npx uivoid@latest create -- --help to bypass review by treating --help as a safe flag rather than a post-dash operand. Fix the filtering step to preserve -- when computing flag semantics, and add test coverage for this bypass case.

✅ 2 closed
✅ Security: Bare pkg@ spec bypasses versioned launcher review

📄 src/codex_plugin_scanner/guard/runtime/command_rules.py:236-241 📄 rust/crates/guard-command/src/native_command_program_evaluation.rs:245-248 📄 scripts/generate_native_command_fixtures.py:91
The new VersionedPackageSubcommandMatcher normalizes a package token only when token == package OR token.startswith("pkg@") and len(token) > len("pkg@") — the length guard requires at least one character after the @. A bare trailing @ (uivoid@) therefore matches neither branch and is left unnormalized, so the prefix comparison fails and the command is treated as a non-match (it is even enumerated as a non-matching case in generate_native_command_fixtures.py: npx uivoid@ create my-app). But npm's package-arg resolver treats an empty version spec pkg@ as the latest tag, so npx uivoid@ create my-app (and the bunx/npm exec/pnpm exec/dlx forms) actually runs the real uivoid package and performs the mutating create without ever reaching review — the exact launcher-bypass class this commit set out to close, left open for the empty-version corner. Matching a bare pkg@ token is fail-secure (at worst an extra review prompt on a command that only ever resolves to this package), so the length restriction should be dropped in both the Python reference and the Rust twin.

Closed: Security: Versioned matcher drops --, so a post--- --help hits the safe variant

📄 rust/crates/guard-command/src/native_command_program_evaluation.rs:237-251 📄 contributions/command-sources/command.uivoid.json
versioned_package_subcommand builds filtered with without_options, and that function throws away the -- terminator but keeps every argument after it. argument_semantics stops at --, but by the time it runs on normalized[prefix.len()..] the -- is already gone. So for npx uivoid@latest create -- --help, the --help safe variant (and the -h one) sees --help as a present flag and auto-allows the command. commander.js treats anything after -- as an operand, though, so uivoid really creates a live project named --help. The same bypass works for credentials, oauth-config, login and skill --install through every npx/bunx/npm exec/pnpm dlx/yarn dlx @version form. The plain executable.v1 safe variants avoid this because they use required_flags_in_all_arguments on the unfiltered arguments, where the -- is still there. Fix: in the versioned matcher, compute flag semantics on the raw arguments after the matched prefix, keeping --, or have the filtering step keep a -- sentinel. Also add a fixture such as npx uivoid@latest create -- --help that must be reviewed.

- track_delete_batch -> review
- track_template_delete -> review
- tempo_clear_all -> review
- project_undo -> inherit (it only reverses a tracked change; gating
it would add friction to fixing a mistake, not making one)

Launch is `uvx xdarkzx-reaper-mcp` (package-launcher). This required a
small upstream fix first: the PyPI package name and the console-script
name didn't match, so `uvx <package>` couldn't resolve an executable.
xDarkzx/Reaper-MCP v0.8.2 now ships a second console-script entry
aliasing the package name to the same entry point (not part of this
diff). Confirmed live: PyPI shows 0.8.2 as current, and
`uvx xdarkzx-reaper-mcp` against the real published package resolves
and starts the server.

Built from contributions/mcp-servers/mcp.filesystem.json as instructed.

Rebased onto main after hashgraph-online#3001 (command.uivoid) merged and touched the
same shared generated catalog files this contribution also regenerates.
Rebuilt the compiler against the updated Rust source, regenerated the
catalog fresh from all current sources, and confirmed both
command.uivoid and command.mcp-reaper are present and correct in the
result.

Validation run on the current branch tip (Windows + WSL Ubuntu 22.04,
both producing identical catalog_digest/program_digest):

- tests/test_guard_command_*extensions.py, test_guard_command_extension_registry.py,
  test_guard_command_critical_floors.py: 737/737

  test_guard_extension_directory_contract_parity.py: 14/14
- cargo test -p guard-command --test native_command_source_cli: 4/4
- Loaded command.mcp-reaper directly from the compiled catalog and
  confirmed every field (enabled=False, trust_class=external,
activation=opt-in, launch, icon, publisher, tool states).

Known-unrelated pre-existing failures (confirmed via `git stash` on
unmodified main, on both OSes, before touching anything):
- 5 tests in tests/test_native_source_compiler.py fail on Windows only.
Root cause: the test doubles write a POSIX shebang script and chmod
it, then hand the path straight to a subprocess call. Windows has no
shebang support in that path, so CreateProcess rejects the file
(WinError 216). All 5 pass cleanly under WSL/Ubuntu.
- 21 tests + 9 errors across tests/test_guard_extension_builder_*.py
and tests/test_native_source_program.py fail on both OSes. Root
cause: they build with `"base": "packaged"`, which requires a
signed, installed-wheel compiler manifest (built by
  scripts/build_native_hol_guard_wheel.py / the Installed-wheel
matrix), not the env-var-pointed release binaries the basic
CONTRIBUTING.md dev setup produces. These also exercise the
Extension Builder Kit pathway, which this contribution doesn't use
(MCP contributions are hand-authored JSON per the MCP server

* Fix trust-map and baseline-fixture tests for command.mcp-reaper

Two tests pinned the pre-contribution catalog state and weren't in
VALIDATION.md's file list, so they were missed:

- test_trust_map_covers_every_builtin_extension hardcodes the expected
  external extension set; added command.mcp-reaper.
- test_catalog_identity_matches_generated_baseline_fixture compares
  against tests/fixtures/extension-controls/catalog-baseline.v1.json;
regenerated it from the live registry (script, not hand-edited).

Both reproduced and confirmed failing before the fix, passing after.
Also ran the real decision engine (apply_contributed_mcp_decision)
against this contribution directly: inert, all four tools pass through
untouched; enabled, the three review tools return a review decision
with the expected reason, and project_undo still passes through
untouched. In-process, no daemon or browser involved.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Package mcp.reaper.json into the wheel and cloud-review staging

Qodo's review caught a real gap: the contribution JSON was in the
source tree and validated correctly there, but load_mcp_contribution_payloads()
prefers packaged payloads whenever any exist, and neither Hatch's
force-include map (pyproject.toml) nor the release staging script
listed mcp.reaper.json. A real pip-installed or frozen build would
silently ignore this contribution entirely.

Fixed both mappings, matching the existing filesystem/instapods
entries exactly. Verified with a real build, not just the config
edit: built an actual wheel (uv build --wheel) and confirmed
mcp.reaper.json is present inside it at the expected path, alongside
the other two contributions. Also ran the staging script directly and
confirmed it copies the file without error (its output isn't meant to
be committed — that directory doesn't exist in the tree normally, so
the generated artifacts were removed after verifying).

Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Fix hardcoded extension count in packaged_program Rust test

CI's 'ownership' check failed: native_command_program_tests.rs pins
the total extension count (72) in packaged_program_is_admitted_once_and_exposes_explicit_coverage.
Adding command.mcp-reaper brought the real count to 73, which the
CI failure itself reported directly (left: 73, right: 72) - a third
place (after the two Python ones already fixed) that hardcodes the
catalog's extension count, missed because it's outside anything
VALIDATION.md's file list covers.

Updated to 73, verified locally: cargo test -p guard-command --lib,
89 passed, 0 failed (was 88 passed, 1 failed).

The remaining CI failures (several coverage shards, 'ci (3.12)')
are the same pre-existing 'native corpus reviewed implementation
changed: command_ascii_comparison.rs' issue already disclosed in
this PR's description - reconfirmed via git stash against the
current unmodified tree, fails identically with none of this PR's
changes present.

* Regenerate native program after syncing with main

Same catalog content (digest unchanged, still 73 extensions) but the
compiled program bytes changed after rebuilding against main's latest
Rust source. Verified: cargo test -p guard-command --lib (89/89),
build_native_command_program.py --check (checked: true), full scoped
Python suite (809/809).

Hi @corrideluca — a quick follow-up about your extension command.uivoid.

Your extension is live in the HOL Guard Extensions Directory, and your publisher page is still ready to claim in Extension Studio.

Continue with the GitHub account that authored this contribution to unlock your verified publisher page, setup guide, launch story, and extension analytics. No extra repository permissions are needed.

We may follow up again later if publisher verification is still incomplete.

If you already claimed your extension, no action is needed — the next scheduler run will stop these reminders.
