When enabled, the engine can route fetches through that process. Startup settings, request handling, and integration tests cover the process lifecycle and fetch scenarios. distinguish explicit overrides from effective schema defaults, since
ConfigStore::get returns defaults for unset keys and ConfigStore::has cannot

explicit true is honored and logged on non-Linux platforms.

Review comments at @crates/gosub_engine/src/net/io_runtime.rs:
- Around line 101-105: Update IoRouter::shutdown_all to explicitly stop the
network process by invoking net_process.shutdown() through spawn_blocking, so
shutdown does not wait for in-flight Arc clones to be dropped. In
crates/gosub_engine/src/net/process/client.rs at lines 316-320, keep Drop as a
fallback; the explicit shutdown should take the child so this fallback does not
block a runtime worker.

from `String` to `Vec<u8>`. In `dispatch_to_net_process` and `flat_headers`,
preserve header values with `as_bytes().to_vec()` instead of dropping values
that fail `to_str()`, and use `HeaderValue::from_bytes` where the broker
reconstructs headers.

crates/gosub_engine/src/net/process/client.rs:105-124
🔒 Security & Privacy | 🟠 Major | ⚡ Quick winMake AppContainer mandatory for the network child on Windows.
NetProcess::spawnenables the network role, but the Windows spawner only creates an AppContainer whenGOSUB_WIN_APPCONTAINERis set. Otherwise, it falls back to a restricted token and then to the inherited broker token if token creation fails. The child still starts, andconfine_spawned_childonly applies job limits. The test server counted a connection that closed without a request line (the next navigation cancelling the last one's icon fetch) as a load of "/", so "back must refetch /a" failed now and then, also in CI on #1195.

setting_at_default compared the value with the schema default, so an embedder setting security.network_process to true on macOS/Windows was treated as "never chose" and turned off. Config::is_overridden tells a stored value from a seeded default.
shutdown_all waited for the zones but left the network process to Drop, which runs only when the last in-flight task lets go of its Arc (up to the reply timeout later) and then blocks a runtime worker. It now calls shutdown on a blocking thread; Drop stays as the fallback.
Both directions flattened headers with to_str(), which drops any value with obs-text (UTF-8 in Set-Cookie, a Content-Disposition filename) without a trace; the in-process fetcher keeps them. HeaderList carries raw bytes, and flatten_headers/rebuild_headers are the one conversion both sides use.

shutdown,
plausible_replyrefusing non-webfinal_urls), and the child(
serve: resolver warm-up before lockdown, Landlock scoped to resolver andCA paths,
lock_down_net, one fetcher, drain grace on shutdown).request metadata forgotten on reply so nothing leaks; in-process fetcher
otherwise. Bodies are buffered at this layer (streaming comes in a later PR).
child_process::run_rolegains thenetrole; the engine resolvessecurity.network_processatstart(): dropped quietly when the embeddernever dispatched or on a non-Linux platform, with a warning when the setting
was explicit.
isolation-harnessbinary (an embedder that dispatches) and theprocess_isolationsuite:direct(round trip through the sandboxedprocess, intact body),
resolve(a.invalidname resolves inside thesandbox without killing the process),
engine(a navigation resolves throughthe child),
guard(an undispatched embedder cannot spawn further processes).FetchResultMeta.tainting, twoNetEvents).Testing
Deliberate limits
Buffered bodies only; no cookie vault, no private-network policy yet (later
PRs). The child is trusted with cookie values because it must put them on the
wire.
