[Bug]: Dinoki API token limit error after upgrading to Pro #9

Description

I just upgraded to Dinoki Pro after using the free version for some time. My first chat with Dinoki after purchasing the license, using the Dinoki API as the provider (asking if he can do a jump) threw this error:

⚠️ Error: Network error: HTTP 402 streaming error from /chat/completions: {"error":"OpenRouter API request failed","details":"{"error":{"message":"This request requires more credits, or fewer max_tokens. You requested up to 16384 tokens, but can only afford 16067. To increase, visit https://openrouter.ai/settings/credits and add more credits","code":402,"metadata":{"provider_name":null}},"user_id":"user_2sX4d5mHPu1VEJWKW6NryiDfbKi"}"}

Every other chat input throws the exact same error, regardless of what gets entered, and the token count never changes. I tried restarting Dinoki, resetting computer, changing providers, deleting instances, and uninstalling & re-installing.

Following the macOS-specific instructions threw this:

me@My-Mac-mini ~ % /System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Frameworks/LaunchServices.framework/Support/lsregister -kill -r -domain local -domain system -domain user

# The -kill option has been removed because it was dangerous and no longer useful.

me@My-Mac-mini ~ %

I also tried the hard reset from the support page:

me@My-Mac-mini ~ %

rm -rf ~/Library/Application\ Support/Dinoki

rm ~/Library/Preferences/ai.dinoki.plist

rm: /Users/me/Library/Preferences/ai.dinoki.plist: No such file or directory

me@My-Mac-mini ~ %

Looking at the logs in Console, this is what it happens when starting and chatting with Dinoki:

error	23:52:24.903233-0800	KeyboardAccessAgent	<private> busy elapsed: 2.2 commands: <private> task: (null)

This never happened while using the free version or the trial. Nothing else had changed between the trial ending a few days ago and now. I cannot recall receiving a similar error while using the free version.

One thing does comes to mind that might be a factor: before the trial ended, I had two characters running simultaneously, alternating both between agent and chat mode. After the trial ended and before upgrading to Pro, I asked one of the Dinoki a question without deleting the other; Dinoki threw an error about the trial having expired. I hadn't tried chatting with Dinoki again until purchasing the license, which is where this all began.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Open Dinoki
  2. Chose Dinoki API as provider
  3. Type anything into the chat & send it
  4. Get the error

Expected Behavior

The Dinoki API should just work. I'm not sure that I'm supposed to sort this out through OpenRouter, and I'm not sure what else to do.

Dinoki Version

1.3.48

macOS Version

macOS Tahoe 26.1

Hardware Information

Mac Mini M4, 24GB RAM

Additional Context

Also, having gone through the troubleshooting section, there isn't a clear Settings panel or menu anywhere for me to navigate. CMD+, brings up hotkeys and nothing else. The gear icon on the top-left of the chat window is for character stuff, but that's all. Not sure if the docs are referencing an earlier version or something, but I wanted to put that out there. I think the logs even mention it as well, but I could be misinterpreting something.

I also never received a confirmation email after purchasing the upgrade, and I'm not sure how else to verify my license number.
