If the ability to use Android's system file picker to select a download path was added, that would allow the use of external storage (such as a connected flash drive or SSD) as a download path for those with limited device space and no expandable storage. As of now, only being able to type a directory path restricts to internal storage and lacks permission to access an SSD, but SAF allows it.
