Raised at crates/baley/src/update/installation.rs:268 as low by openai, ruled survived.
Claim. Concatenating a relative target with the link folder introduces ENAMETOOLONG failures for otherwise resolvable stable links.
Failure scenario. On Linux, use a 4,040-byte absolute HOME composed of legal directory components and the relative target '../lib/crenshawdev/baley/versions/0.2.0/baley'. The stable pathname is 4,057 bytes and the version executable's pathname is 4,090 bytes, both within PATH_MAX. However, followed_path preserves '/bin/../', producing a 4,097-byte pathname that metadata rejects with ENAMETOOLONG. Previously, metadata(stable) succeeded because the kernel resolved the relative symlink from its containing directory without receiving this oversized concatenated pathname.
