Hardware Device
AYN Thor
OS Version
20260907.78958ee
Description
The below games all exhibit either degraded performance, or run at 60 FPS with weird frame drops. When setting cores to Big in Armada Control the games start either maintaining a solid 60 fps or get a performance boost. Mangohud frametime graphs have less spikes in general
Dark Souls Remastered - Extra stability and performance
Dark Souls 2 - Extra stability and performance
Dark Souls 3 - Extra stability and performance
Psychonauts - Extra stability and performance
Valheim - Extra stability and performance
Lies of P- Extra stability and performance
Sulfur - Extra stability and performance
Heretic + Hexen - Extra stability and performance
Left 4 Dead - Extra stability and performance
The Binding of Isaac (Retroid Pocket 5. Runs fine with default settings on Ayn Thor. On Thor can run pinned to Little cores)
Steps to reproduce
Open Steam
Processor mode set to Performance
Start Game
Go to area with bad performance like the Darkroot Garden in Dark Souls Remastered. Mangohud has inconsistent frametimes and notice performance drop from an unstable 60 fps when standing near the bonfire behind the hidden wall. Mangohud has inconsistent frametimes and performance drops to 30ish fps when going in to the misty area down the stairs with the human NPCs.
Open Armada Control and go to Performance.
Set Game to Big cores only.
Set Mangohud to Little cores
Re-apply to running game and watch performance settle in on 60 fps.
Expected behavior
OS/Steam keeping game threads on Big cores and offload to Little cores only when Big cores are saturated
Actual behavior
Game engines seem to be dropping to the Little cores causing stutter and frame drops
