i think there should be a note regarding the mod icon
if a mod icon is specified in the mod's json file, and there isn't both 1x and 2x for the mod icon, then older versions of smods will crash even if the mod isn't enabled

true, but that doesn't affect older versions
such as ones you'd currently need to use to play ranked multiplayer

I think this case is a bit niche because you would either need to add an already incompatible mod to the folder or you would downgrade smods in a folder you had which is kinda janky. But I can add something
