feat(sessions): improve export, search, and UI clarity - #222
Session search results now report scan counts and completeness through the session-list API and browser. Session exports support a default or all-messages range and display truncation feedback. The session preview controls, translations, guide, and tests were updated.
Search scans track incomplete extraction, read failures, byte limits, and candidate limits. Filtered results include scanned and candidate counts with a completeness value.
Session listing and the API preserve search metadata. The browser shows coverage and partial-result status, distinguishes filtered from source-empty results, and provides filter-clearing guidance.
Export range and truncation feedback cli.js, web-ui/app.js, web-ui/modules/app.methods.codex-config.mjs, web-ui/partials/index/panel-sessions.html, web-ui/res/web-ui-render.precompiled.js, web-ui/styles/sessions-preview.css, web-ui/modules/i18n/locales/*, site/guide/sessions.md, tests/unit/session-export-range.test.mjs, tests/unit/run.mjs, package.json, desktop/package.json
The export control selects the default range or all extractable messages. Export requests send the all-messages option when selected, and the preview displays truncation feedback. The OpenCode and Zed export branches are mutually exclusive.

Large OpenCode sessions can be exported or searched with older messages silently missing, and the default export label describes the wrong end of long sessions. The new test would also fail on Node 14, which the package still declares as supported. Fix these before merging; the remaining search-status wording issues are small.

Explanation
The title "feat(sessions): improve export, search, and UI clarity" names the three main areas of the changeset: session export (OpenCode/Zed branch fix, export-range selection, truncation notices), session search (searchInfo with scan and candidate counts and completeness), and the web UI refinements. It does not mention the version bump to 0.1.29, which is a minor part of the change. The phrase "UI clarity" is somewhat broad, but it refers to real changes in the panel, empty states, and preview controls. The title follows a conventional commit style and is concise.
Full details: Docstring Coverage
Explanation
Docstring coverage is 0.00% which is insufficient. The required threshold is 80.00%. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff. Documentation-only edits and deletions within surviving functions are included; unchanged diff context and fully deleted functions are excluded. Analyzed 3 functions across 12 files. (7 skipped: 5 unsupported, 2 too large.)

Do not mark capped OpenCode scans complete.
When an OpenCode session has more than 2,000 messages, queryOpencodeSessionMessages reads only the newest 2,000, even with maxMessages: Infinity. It also reports truncated: false in that case. This line therefore marks a search complete when an older message could match the query. The new all-messages export choice can likewise omit messages without a truncation notice. Use the available total-message count to report the cap, or read the remaining messages, while preserving the existing API shape. Based on learnings, keep the correction within the existing design and avoid breaking API changes.

Do not promise the latest 1,000 messages until export keeps the tail.
For generic JSONL sources, extractMessagesFromFile reads from the beginning and stops after 1,000 messages. A session with more than 1,000 messages therefore exports the oldest messages, not the latest messages. The guide and the new sessions.export.default translations in all three locales promise the opposite behavior. Retain the last 1,000 messages or change the wording consistently. Report the actual search scope in the coverage message.
The default query scope is summary, so applySessionQueryFilter can complete without content scans. In that case, scanned remains 0 while candidates is nonzero, and the UI displays 0 / N as scanned coverage. Count summary-processed candidates or label this as content-scan coverage. Keep the guide text aligned with that meaning. (raw.githubusercontent.com)

Use a Node 14-compatible property check.
Object.hasOwn is unavailable on Node 14 and Node versions before 16.9. The new test therefore fails on supported Node versions. Use Object.prototype.hasOwnProperty.call(requests[0], 'maxMessages') instead. (nodejs.org)

Keep truncation notices per session.
If a truncated export for session A is followed by an export for session B, this assignment removes A’s notice. Returning to A then shows no persistent warning. Store and clear the notice by session key.

Correct the default export-range description.
For Codex and other JSONL sessions, extractMessagesFromFile keeps the first 1,000 extractable messages. The label “Latest 1000 messages” promises the opposite end of a long session. The truncation advice at Line 734 also says that “all” retrieves earlier messages, although these sources need it to retrieve later ones. Use source-neutral wording for both strings, and make the corresponding correction in the other locales. Based on learnings, preserve the current export behavior and API.

Describe incomplete reads as well as unscanned candidates.
A candidate can be counted in scanned while its content read fails or stops at the byte limit. In that case, the status can show 50 / 50 and still set complete: false. “Some candidates remain unscanned” gives the wrong reason and directs the user to narrow the source. Change the partial-search text to cover incomplete content scans too, including in the other locales.
