A Telegram bot that downloads audio from YouTube and SoundCloud links and lets you search YouTube by name — all without a YouTube API key. Built with yt-dlp for reliable extraction and python-telegram-bot for a smooth inline-keyboard experience.

📦 Installation

Prerequisites

• Python 3.10+
• FFmpeg installed and on PATH
• Deno (JS runtime required by some yt-dlp extractors)
• A Telegram Bot token from @BotFather

Steps

# Clone the repo
git clone https://github.com/Fahad-BA/TelegramY2A.git
cd TelegramY2A

# Create and activate a virtual environment
python -m venv venv
source venv/bin/activate    # Linux/macOS
# venv\Scripts\activate     # Windows

# Install dependencies
pip install -r requirements.txt

# Configure your bot token
cp .env.example .env
# Edit .env and replace the placeholder with your actual token

# Run the bot
python bot.py

🚀 Usage

Direct Download

Send any YouTube or SoundCloud URL as a plain message — the bot downloads and returns the audio as an MP3 file.

Search

Run as a systemd Service (Production)

# Edit the service file paths to match your setup
sudo cp y2a.service /etc/systemd/system/
sudo systemctl daemon-reload
sudo systemctl enable --now y2a

⚙️ Configuration

Variable	File	Description
BOT_TOKEN	.env	Telegram Bot API token from BotFather
max_duration	bot.py	Max video length in seconds (default: 420 = 7 min)
preferredquality	bot.py	MP3 bitrate in kbps (default: 192)
