Summary

• Restore the net changes from Queue messages safely during compaction #58, which was accidentally merged into refactor/test-cleanup rather than main.
• Allow safe steering/follow-up queueing during active automatic compaction; preserve blocked drafts and recover reconciliation reads.
• Retain the original runtime, race, lifecycle and browser regressions; adapt session switching to current sidebar navigation.
• Applied without source conflicts.

Validation

• Frozen dependency install, frontend lint, typecheck/build: passed.
• Unit tests: 55 files, 678 tests passed.
• Focused Chromium: 16 tests passed (compaction queue, existing message queue, session replacement).
• Local WebKit cannot launch even independently of Tau; GitHub CI must verify WebKit before merge.

Restores original merge 8d49cac without importing unrelated changes from the incorrect target branch.

Combined integration check with #69 passed locally: frontend lint/typecheck/build, all 730 unit tests, all 292 Chromium functional tests, both isolated performance guards, and the full unsigned native app build. The two restored changes merge together without conflicts. Awaiting hosted browser/native gates before merging.
