📟 Console Output Guide - What You'll See

This guide shows exactly what console output to expect when running the hybrid system.

🐛 Troubleshooting by Console Output

Problem: "X_API_KEY not set"

Backend shows:

⚠️  WARNING: X_API_KEY not set. Grok sentiment analysis will fail!
   Set it in .env or environment: export X_API_KEY=your-key

Fix:

echo "X_API_KEY=your_key_here" > .env
# Restart backend

Problem: "No recommendations yet"

Dashboard shows:

⚠️  No recommendations yet, waiting for first analysis
   ⏱️  This usually takes 30-60 seconds on first run

Solution: Wait 30-60 seconds. Backend is still analyzing.

Problem: Grok keeps failing

Backend shows:

⚠️  Grok failed for KXHIGHCHI-25NOV09-T38: API error

Check:

  1. Is X_API_KEY set correctly?
  2. Do you have API credits?
  3. Is x.ai API accessible?

Problem: Dashboard not fetching

Dashboard console shows nothing

Check:

  1. Is Python backend running? (should see output in Terminal 1)
  2. Is backend on port 8000? (curl http://localhost:8000/api/status)
  3. Check browser console for CORS errors

Problem: CORS errors

Dashboard shows:

❌ Error fetching from Python backend:
Access-Control-Allow-Origin error

Fix:

  1. Restart Python backend
  2. Ensure it's running on port 8000
  3. Check api_server.py has correct CORS settings

✅ Healthy System Output

A healthy system shows:

Backend (Terminal 1):

  • ✅ Startup message with port 8000
  • ✅ Initial analysis completes in 30-60 seconds
  • ✅ Shows 10-20 recommendations
  • ✅ API requests every 60 seconds from dashboard
  • ✅ Re-analysis every 5 minutes

Dashboard (Browser Console):

  • ✅ Fetches successfully every 60 seconds
  • ✅ Shows "success" status
  • ✅ Converts 10-20 recommendations
  • ✅ No error messages

Dashboard (UI):

  • ✅ Shows recommendation cards
  • ✅ Each card has quantitative + Grok data
  • ✅ Can swipe/accept/dismiss
  • ✅ Updates automatically

📝 Summary

To see everything:

  1. Terminal 1 (Python): Shows full analysis pipeline

    • Statistical screening

  2. Browser Console (F12): Shows dashboard activity
