TBH I haven't tested it and I vaguely remember something about Java 25 but it was a long time ago. If the developer has said that, thats probably true. I myself have Java 21 as the user and system vm. You're right that RDEPEND should probably be changed, but that would not automatically prevent Freeplane trying to run on Java 25 if that's your user VM. EDIT: I tested it and it displays a message in the terminal a supported Java version should be used. |

Thank you for taking the time to test it. I am sorry I couldn't understand what you meant by "that would not automatically prevent Freeplane trying to run on Java 25 if that's your user VM". Does that mean that if jre25 is my virtual jre package in gentoo then even if we change RDEPEND to <=jre21 freeplane will still try to run on jre25? How would we make freeplane run on jre21 then? Can we incorporate it somehow in the ebuild. |

Thank you for the valuable information. ❤️ |
Uh oh!

Thanks for maintaining Freeplane for gentoo.
According to the post here Freeplane can not use Java version >= 24. Current latest java version in gentoo in 25. As per the ebuild java version has to be >=11 but it doesn't mention the upper limit. What is your experience can it run under java 25. If it can not run then please change RDEPEND to =<virtual/jre-21 .
