The Technical Vision & Roadmap for AutoMaintainer
AutoMaintainer originated as a proof-of-concept demonstrating a fully autonomous, 5-agent LangGraph software engineering team. As we scale the platform to meet enterprise demand, we are transitioning from a monolithic web interface into a comprehensive, cross-platform Automation Engineering Ecosystem.
This discussion outlines our architectural transition, the strategy for massive concurrency, and the development roadmap for expanding AutoMaintainer's capabilities across CLI architectures, Continuous Integration pipelines, and the Model Context Protocol (MCP).
Phase 1: High-Concurrency SaaS Infrastructure (In Progress)
To support 100,000+ concurrent user sessions, the current stateful WebSocket architecture will be deprecated. In its place, we are implementing a Dual-Storage Adapter pattern to decouple execution state from the transport layer.
Supavisor/PostgREST) and Realtime pub/sub. This strictly isolates user sessions and prevents horizontal memory exhaustion.C4Context title Phase 1: Dual-Storage Architecture Person(user, "Developer", "Interacts with UI") System_Boundary(core, "AutoMaintainer Core") { Container(backend, "FastAPI Backend", "Python", "Manages Agent Lifecycle") Container(agents, "LangGraph Engine", "Python", "5-Agent Crew") } System_Boundary(storage, "Dual-Storage Adapter") { ContainerDb(supabase, "Supabase PostgreSQL", "SQL", "High-Scale Multi-Tenant State (PostgREST)") Container(memory, "In-Memory State", "RAM", "Zero-Friction Local Execution") } Rel(user, backend, "Initiates Task") Rel(backend, agents, "Triggers Graph execution") Rel(agents, supabase, "Writes Logs (If SUPABASE_URL exists)") Rel(agents, memory, "Broadcasts Logs (If Local Mode)")Phase 2: The AutoMaintainer Command Line Interface (CLI)
To integrate seamlessly into existing developer workflows, we are developing a native CLI binary utilizing
Clickorargparse. The CLI will execute the LangGraph pipeline locally, leveraging GitNexus to map the local file system architecture. This entirely bypasses the need for GitHub REST API calls, allowing the agents to operate on uncommitted code and private infrastructures.
Execution Flow:
$ automaintainer run "Fix login component alignment"..gitrepository and builds a semantic index.subprocess, and commits the patch directly to the working tree.Phase 3: The Enterprise SDK (Python & Node.js)
By abstracting the LangGraph topology into an embeddable Software Development Kit (
pip install automaintainer), enterprise teams can inject autonomous engineering into their CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins).Architectural Approach:
The SDK will wrap the FastAPI REST endpoints. Upon a webhook trigger (e.g.,
pull_request_opened), a CI runner will invoke the SDK. TheReviewerandImplementeragents will execute static analysis and push automated remediation commits before human intervention is required.Phase 4: Model Context Protocol (MCP) Integration
To establish AutoMaintainer as a universal utility, we are exposing the entire agent hierarchy as a standard Model Context Protocol (MCP) Server.
By packaging the server via Node Package Manager (
npx @pxa-labs/automaintainer-mcp), any compliant Automation interface (Claude Desktop, Cursor, Devin) can dynamically discover and execute our agent pipeline as a subcontractor.sequenceDiagram participant Developer participant Claude/Cursor participant AutoMaintainer MCP participant Local Filesystem Developer->>Claude/Cursor: "Implement the billing microservice." Claude/Cursor-->>Developer: "The billing microservice is complete."Phase 5: Integrated Development Environment (IDE) Extension
The final phase involves direct integration into IDEs via the Language Server Protocol (LSP) or a native VSCode/Cursor extension. The agents will maintain a real-time, low-latency understanding of the developer's cursor position and active file buffers, proactively executing syntax corrections and writing unit tests asynchronously in the background.
