Help texts

atc start

Usage: atc start [options]

The server keeps running after this command; `atc stop` ends it. With --foreground it stays in this process instead — for Docker and systemd — and stops on SIGTERM or Ctrl+C.

Options:
--admin Serve the web admin (--no-admin to skip) (default: true)
--admin-port <port> Admin port for this server
--foreground Stay in the foreground (containers, systemd); SIGTERM stops it

Global options:
--json Print the result as one JSON document (errors go to stderr as JSON)
-v, --verbose Debug-level logging on stderr
-q, --quiet Only errors on stderr; no progress
-y, --yes Answer yes to safe confirmations; required for elevation and deletion
                        without a terminal
--data-folder <path> Data folder to work with (default: <system data>/atomic-chat-cli/data)
--no-color Disable ANSI colours (NO_COLOR is honoured too)
  -h, --help Show help

atc run

Usage: atc run <model> [options]

Loads the model on the active engine — the one running now, else engines.default — and makes it answer on the API. It downloads and starts nothing else: a missing model, server or engine is an error that names the command to run first (`atc models pull`, `atc start`, `atc engines install`). `atc unload` stops it; the desktop app calls these Run and Stop.

Arguments:
<model> Model id, as `atc models list` shows it

Options:
      --engine <engine>  Engine to run it on (llamacpp-upstream, llamacpp, mlx or tensorrt-llm);
                         remembered as engines.default
--embedding Start it in embedding mode

Examples:
  atc run qwen3-8b
  atc run qwen3-8b --engine mlx

Global options:
--json Print the result as one JSON document (errors go to stderr as JSON)
-v, --verbose Debug-level logging on stderr
-q, --quiet Only errors on stderr; no progress
-y, --yes Answer yes to safe confirmations; required for elevation and deletion
                        without a terminal
--data-folder <path> Data folder to work with (default: <system data>/atomic-chat-cli/data)
--no-color Disable ANSI colours (NO_COLOR is honoured too)
  -h, --help Show help
  --version Print the version

Status: not implemented yet in this build (exit code 3).

atc unload

Usage: atc unload [model] [options]

The server keeps running and the model stays downloaded; `atc stop` stops the server.

Arguments:
[model] Model id; --all for every running model

Options:
      --all Unload every running model

Examples:
  atc unload qwen3-8b
  atc unload --all

-q, --quiet Only errors on stderr; no progress
-y, --yes Answer yes to safe confirmations; required for elevation and deletion
                        without a terminal
--data-folder <path> Data folder to work with (default: <system data>/atomic-chat-cli/data)

atc engines

Usage: atc engines <command>

No engine ships inside atc: install one before `atc run`. The core knows the hardware and picks the build for it; an engine that runs in a container (TensorRT-LLM) gets that prepared on install, with consent for the one privileged step.

Commands:
list Installed engines and builds, the running one, and what is available
install Install an engine (the build the core recommends for this hardware)
status The running engine and build, driver facts, mismatch warnings
rm Remove an engine build, or the whole engine

Status: not implemented yet in this build (exit code 3).

atc engines install

Usage: atc engines install [engine] [options]

Shows what would change on the system before touching it; an engine that needs a container runtime or a driver setting asks first, elevates through sudo, pkexec or UAC, and resumes after a re-login or reboot.

Options:
--build <build> A specific build instead of the recommended one, e.g.
                               b6000/cuda-cu12.4-x64
      --force Reinstall
--dry-run Print what would change and exit
--resume <operation-id> Continue an install after a re-login or reboot

Examples:
  atc engines install
  atc engines install tensorrt-llm --dry-run

Usage: atc tui [options]

A live screen for people at a keyboard: the server, the core, the API and running models, the server log, the config, doctor and every command with its help, with keys to start, stop and restart the server and change settings. Every action it offers is also a plain command, and leaving it never stops the server.
